What is DeMolay?
DeMolay is an organization dedicated to preparing young men to lead successful, happy, and productive lives. Basing its approach on timeless principles and hands-on experience, DeMolay opens doors for young men aged 12 to 21 by developing the civic awareness, personal responsibility and leadership skills so vitally needed in society today. DeMolay combines this serious mission with a fun approach that builds important bonds of friendship among members in more than 1,000 chapters worldwide.
How do I join?
Obtain an application for membership. You can get a blank application here. The application will ask for some basic information about you, and needs to be signed by two members of DeMolay recommending you for membership, and by your parents to give permission for you to join. As you get to know some of the members of your local Chapter they’ll be able to sign for you.
What happens after I submit my application?
From the time you express interest in DeMolay membership, your local Chapter will likely welcome you at many of their events. Before you can be formally made a member, however, your application must be acted upon by the members. Representatives of the Chapter may ask to meet with you and your parents before the Chapter votes to make you a member. Once you are voted on, you’ll be given a date and time where you will become a full member. DeMolay maintains many impressive traditions. Among them are the formal ceremonies (“degrees”) for receiving new members. Elizabethtown Chapter may confer these ceremonies locally or offer you an opportunity to take the DeMolay “obligations” immediately and see the full ceremonies later. Your parents and other adult relatives over 21 will be most welcome at these ceremonies.
